Originally in earlier versions you could drag from the layer thumbnail to an empty part of the workspace and have an image duplicated (same as Copy > Paste > As new image or Shift D) OK The original version of X7 (17.0.0.106), they broke the drag and drop process. and when I check for updates, it says I'm up to date. I've tried uninstalling the program and reinstalling it, to no avail. I've searched the Help but not found anything about this. I've tried to determine what causes it to start acting right, but I haven't been able to make any sense of it. Is there a setting somewhere to change this? After something happens, it stops doing that and starts adding the new layers up where they belong. When I try to Paste As New Layer, the new layer is added BELOW the Background Layer.
